Programme Notes

The ‘Golden Slipper’ was a venue on the parish line between Stromness and the neighbouring parish of Stenness. When Stromness was dry – the sale of alcoholic drink banned in the town – it was the nearest place where drink could be obtained. It continued in operation until the 1950s.
